STUDENT “OBLIGATION LIST”!!!

**IMPORTANT**  OBLIGATION LIST INFORMATION!!!

By the end of the week you may get a notice that your son/daughter is on the “Obligation List” and you may not know what that means. As your kids go through school, there are numerous financial obligations that come along. Some examples are lost textbooks, money owed in the cafeteria, replacement ID cards, or unpaid fees in the afterschool program. Obligations also carry over from school to school. So, money that was owed in elementary school now becomes part of our obligation list and still must be paid. When money is owed, the student’s name gets placed on the obligation list and the parent is responsible for paying whatever is owed.

What some parents don’t know is that when there are unpaid obligations, those funds must then come from the school budget to make up the difference. For example, at Christa, we are currently in debt for over $2000 in lost textbooks and this money must be paid to the District out of our school funds. This is money that would otherwise go towards equipment, supplies, and instructional materials.

When a student is on the obligation list, they are not permitted to participate in extracurricular activities until that debt is paid. An example is our upcoming Halloween Dance that the PTSA is sponsoring. Unfortunately, students that are on the obligation list will not be able to attend this event. Interestingly, in many cases, the amount that is owed is usually a very small amount, such as $5 for a replacement ID.

We will be sending out reminders to parents that are on the list so that you have time to take care of these obligations. If you have financial hardships that are causing this to be an issue, we are more than willing to work with you on a payment plan or other arrangements can be made.

Please contact Kelly Michel (561-374-6610) if you have any questions about this.

ENJOY THE CITY FUNDRAISER

DRUM ROLL PLEASE….

CONGRATULATIONS  to the following students who are the big sellers for this year’s ETC Fundraiser:

Kelly Benjamin (tops with 17 books sold!), Alicia Hanson, Austin Theriault, Samantha Theriault, Samantha Migliore, Marissa Brodsky and Parker Hodges.  These 7 students each earned a$50 cash prize.  A big shout out also goes to:  Ashlyn McCallum, Caleb Pressley, Patrick O’Sullivan, Alanna Hurley and Riley DeMello.  These students each received a $10 Cinemark gift card for selling 10+ books.

PTSA would like to thank everybody for their support.  Every book sold benefits CMMS and it’s students throughout the school year.  Job well done :)

And, just a reminder to those of you who haven’t returned your  unsold books… please return them to the school ASAP so the cost of the book will not be added to your “Obligations List”.  PTSA is responsible for returning every single unsold book back to the vendor.  The price of any missing books will need to be paid for out of our profits.  Parents, please check your student’s backpack one last time.  Teachers, please take one last look around your classroom.  As always, your help & support is much appreciated!!
