8th Grade Dance – “A Night in Hollywood”
Our 8th grade dance is coming up on Friday, May 23, from 6 to 9 pm.  Our cafe will be transformed into “A Night in Hollywood”… DJ, Photo Booth ($4) and a King & Queen will be crowned, plus a small keepsake compliments of your PTSA.  Tickets are only $5 and will be on sale May 19 through May 23 during lunch.  Your $5 admission includes 4 tickets to be used for your choice of food, beverage or snack item.  Semi-formal dress code.  Flyers with more information will be given to the students on May 14th… 
 
We will be in need of many volunteers for the following:
* selling tickets on May 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23, from 11 am to 1 pm
* setting up for the dance beginning at 4 pm on May 23, 
* chaperoning the dance on May 23, from 6 to 9 pm
* clean up, 9 to 9:30 pm
It would be really great if our 6th and 7th grade parents could step up to help with chaperoning and cleanup for this particular dance!  Again, if you can volunteer, please email us at [email protected].

To our 8th Grade Parents Only 
Very important… Parents, please be on the look out for an large envelope from PTSA that is being distributed by the teachers to only our 8th grade students on Monday, April 28, during the last period of the day (Period 3).  Inside that envelope is important information on how you can show your child just how proud you are of their accomplishments here at CMMS.  This is a terrific opportunity to celebrate your child as he or she gets ready to move on to high school.  Keep your eyes peeled and check those backpacks on Monday.  You won’t want to miss out… we promise!!!

8th Grade “Gradventure” Universal Trip!!

Spots are still available for the 8th grade “Gradventure” trip to Universal.  This is a fantastic trip where Universal Studios closes down to the general public and is open to only middle school students.  The trip takes place on 5/16 and the cost is $110.  If you are interested in your student attending this field trip please contact Mrs. Hamilton as soon as possible at[email protected] as the final deadline to turn in money is fast approaching.

Mother’s Day Cakes

Mother’s Day Cakes
Flyers went home earlier this week for the CMMS Mother’s Day Cake sale.  Cakes are $8 each and the kids will be decorating them on Friday, May 9, beginning at 2:50 pm (the last period of the day) in the cafeteria.  We are in need of volunteers to help with cake decorating beginning at 2:45 pm on May 9.  If you can help, please email us at [email protected].  Special thanks to Suzanne Nicolini for spearheading this delicious task :)

2014-15 CMMS PTSA Board
Only 3 nominations for Board members were received without opposition. So, congrats and thank you to Debbie Medoro (President), Lisa Wheeler (Executive Vice President/Memberships) and Michelle Principe (Treasurer) for putting their “hats into the ring” and stepping up to serve.  Our Board for next year is not quite complete – – We still need a Correspondence and Recording Secretary for our Board.  If you are interested, or perhaps know of an incoming 6th grade parent who would be interested, please share this information.
